The decision to self-publish a piece of work into which blood, sweat and tears have been poured is an incredibly difficult one for many authors. It means heading into unknown territory, with little idea of what’s to come.

That is, if you do it all yourself. Which you don’t need to. So - deep breath, and… relax!

At New Generation Publishing, we want our authors to thrive on their own, but with assistance that is based on countless years of experience in the world of self publishing. That’s where our brilliant publishing packages come into play, along with our incredibly knowledgeable, friendly team.

However, if you’re an aspiring author and you still can’t quite face the reality of ‘going it alone’, you may be interested to hear the experiences of others.

We’re profoundly proud of our self published authors, and love to hear their thoughts on the process once their work has successfully made it into print.

We recently heard from two, who eloquently sum up exactly what self publishing is all about.

“My experience with New Generation Publishing has exceeded my expectations,” wrote Judy Darby, author of A Bundle of Sticks: A Memoir. “The service was personal, prompt and highly professional every step of the way, and was always friendly and reassuring. Any query was answered swiftly and courteously and the whole process took less time than the estimated 8 -12 weeks. I felt exhilarated when I saw my book, a long held dream, featured on Amazon. I would urge anyone who is at all hesitant, to go for it: this is an organisation that delivers more than it promises.”

Seeing your book on platforms such as Amazon will forever be a source of immense pride, but, sometimes, it’s the smaller things that make a difference in self-publishing.

“I took my book (Two Pilgrims Meet) to the most prestigious book shop in Cambridge yesterday,” said Basil Scott. “I was pleased that the Head of Literature (who orders books) was impressed with the cover and thought it was excellent. In particular he commented on the paper used for the cover – not glossy, not matt, but soft and not sticky to the fingers.”

It isn’t always just about the words, you know!

Feeling inspired to jump into the world of self publishing? Basil and Judy did, so what’s stopping you?
